Broken Wheat Upma

INGREDIENTS
Broken Wheat - 250 grams
Oil - 2 teaspoons
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
Ginger - 1 teaspoon
Onion - 100 grams
Green Chili - 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves - 8-10
Carrot - 30 grams
Green Peas - 50 grams
Tomato - 50 grams
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
Warm Water - 250 milliliters
Lemon - 1 teaspoon
Coriander - 1 teaspoon
PREPARATION
- Heat a pan, add 250 grams broken wheat and dry roast for 4-5 minutes. Set aside.
- Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a wok, add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida and give it a nice stir.
- Now, add 1 teaspoon ginger and stir again.
- Add 100 grams onions and mix it well.
- Sauté them for 2-3 minutes.
- Now, add 1 teaspoon Green Chili, 8-10 curry leaves and stir well.
- Add 30 grams carrot, 50 grams green peas, 50 grams tomato, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric and mix again.
- Cover it with lid and cook for 4-5 minutes on moderate heat.
- Remove the lid, add roasted broken wheat and mix it well.
- Now, add 250 milliliters warm water and stir well.
- Cover it with lid again and cook for 10-12 minutes.
- Now, remove the lid and add 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon coriander and mix.
- Remove the wok from heat.
- Serve.
