Tomato kadhi Jain Style

 

Serving- 4

 

INGREDIENTS

Tomato- 400 grams

Water- 150 milliliters

Gram Flour- 2 tablespoons

Salt- 1 teaspoon

Turmeric- 1/4 teaspoon

Red Chili - 1/2 teaspoon

Water- 300 milliliters

Oil- 1 tablespoon

Mustard Seeds- 1/2 teaspoon

Cumin Seeds- 1/2 teaspoon

Cloves- 2

Asafoetida- 1/4 teaspoon

Green Chili- 1 teaspoon

Curry Leaves- 10-12

Jaggery- 1 teaspoon

Coriander- for garnishing

 

PREPARATION

  1. In a pan, add 400 grams chopped tomato, 150 milliliters water and stir well.
  2. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Now, cool the mixture at room temperature.
  4. Transfer it to a blender and blend properly.
  5. Keep aside.
  6. In a mixing bowl, add 2 tablespoons gram flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili, blended tomato puree and 300 milliliters water.
  7. Mix all the ingredients well.
  8. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok, add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 2 cloves, 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida, 1 teaspoon green chili, 10-12 curry leaves and mix it well.
  9. Sauté them for 1 minute.
  10. Now, add the prepared mixture and mix again.
  11. Cook for 20-25 minutes.
  12. Then, add 1 teaspoon chopped jaggery and mix again.
  13. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  14. Now, add the prepared tomato curry in a serving dish.
  15. Garnish with coriander.
  16. Serve with rice.
