Idli Manchurian

INGREDIENTS


Semolina - 300 grams

Curd - 200 grams

Salt - 1 teaspoon

Water - 250 milliliters

Fruit salt - 1 teaspoon

Water - 10 milliliters

All purpose flour - 150 grams

Corn flour - 2 tablespoons

Salt - 1/4 teaspoon

Paprika - 1 teaspoon

Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon

Water - 300 milliliters

Oil - for frying

Oil - 30 milliliters

Onions - 70 grams

Bell pepper - 70 grams

Red chili sauce - 1 tablespoon

Soy sauce - 2 teaspoons

Vinegar - 1 teaspoon

Ketchup - 50 grams

Salt - 1/2 teaspoon

 

Water - 300 milliliters

Corn flour - 1 tablespoon

Water - 30 milliliters

Spring onions - for garnishing

PREPARATION

1. In a mixing bowl, add 300 grams semolina, 200 grams curd, 1 teaspoon salt and mix it well.

2. Then, add 250 milliliters water and mix it well to make a thick batter.3. Rest the batter for 20 - 30 minutes.

4. Add 1 teaspoon fruit salt, 10 milliliters water and mix it well.

5. Pour the batter into a idli maker.

6. Place it in a skillet filled with water.

7. Cover it with lid and steam for about 10 - 12 minutes.

8. Open the lid and remove the idli from it.

9. Cut it into long pieces and keep aside.

10. In a mixing bowl, add 150 grams all purpose flour, 2 tablespoons corn flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder and mix it well.

11. Add 300 milliliters water and mix it well to make a thick batter.

12. Now, add the idli into it and coat it properly.

13. Heat sufficient oil in a heavy skillet and deep fry these until golden brown and crispy.

14. Drain it on an absorbent paper and keep aside.

15. Heat 30 milliliters oil in a skillet, add 70 grams onions and fry till translucent or until it turns golden brown in color.

16. Then, add 70 grams bell pepper and mix it well.

17. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes on medium heat.

18. Now, add 1 tablespoon red chili sauce, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon vinegar, 50 grams ketchup, 1/2 teaspoon salt and mix it well.

19. Add 300 milliliters water and mix it well.

20. Bring it to a boil.

21. In a bowl, add 1 tablespoon corn flour, 30 milliliters water and mix it well.

22. Pour the mixture into the skillet and mix it well.

23. Bring it to a boil.

24. Now, add the fried idli and give it a nice stir.

25. Cook for 3 - 5 minutes on medium heat.

26. Remove it from heat.

27. Garnish with spring onions.

28. Serve.
